Climate Change is Global, the Impact is Local

Rep. Ross Spano

Rep. Ross Spano (R-FL, 15th District) represents a Florida congressional district bordered by Tampa/St. Petersburg to the West and Orlando to the East. He serves on the House Committee on Small Business and House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

A lawyer who was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012, he successfully ran for Congress in 2018. His official biography notes his strong Christian values and his ongoing “fight for conservative values…”. He has fought ongoing charges of ethics violations revolving around campaign fund-raising. When running for his seat in 2018, Spano borrowed $180,000 from friends to finance his campaign. He claimed in his federal filings that the money had come from his own “personal funds.”

Ross Spano on Climate Change

Appearing on WFLA News on 4 August 2019 Spano was quoted as saying he didn’t believe climate change was caused by man-made activity: “I do not,” he told Donovan. “I don’t think there’s sufficient evidence to show that.”
In the same interview he also remarked that politicians and scientists, “force people to accept that it is true, And if you speak out against it, and you say no no, let’s talk about this? Well you’re an idiot. You’re stupid.” With a final thought that whether the cost of fixing what he called “man-made climate” would be worth the effort.
