Climate Change is Global, the Impact is Local

Piers Corbyn

Piers Corbyn is the founder of WeatherAction, the firm through which he sells his long-range weather predictions. He is also very active in the media, particularly in speaking out against the scientific consensus on climate change, and more recently, opposing COVID-19 measures. As a part of his fight against Coronavirus restrictions, he created the “Stop New Normal” Campaign in 2020.

Currently, Corbyn is planning on running for the position of London Mayor in the 2021 election.

His younger brother, Jeremy Corbyn, formerly served as the Leader of the Labour Party and is currently a Member of Parliament.

Piers Corbyn has often verbalized his disbelief in the current understanding of climate change. In one interview, he openly stated that “man-made climate change does not exist,” and that “there is not any evidence that there is a consensus for belief in man-made climate change.” A proponent of global cooling, Corbyn also stated in the same interview that “the general trend now is toward colder weather and jet stream fluctuations, and some very warm spells within a generally colder world.”

In another media appearance, Corbyn aimed to discredit recent reports issued by the IPCC, labeling them “anti-scientific nonsense…intended to regiment people into paying more in carbon taxes and [to] help the oil companies increase profits by increasing prices.” He also stated that “CO2 has no effect” on global temperature.

Corbyn believes, instead, that the climate is influenced primarily by the sun’s activity – the ‘solar theory’ – stating that “global warming is over and it never was anything to do with CO2 – CO2 is still rising but the world is now cooling and will continue to do so.”
